Enhancing Youth Engagement: Lessons from the Bootstrap Mini Bootcamp

Earlier this year, at the start of the summer, we met online with students from across Europe involved in our Bootstrap project.  We asked them what was working and what wasn’t in their involvement as Student Ambassadors, helping us co-create the project.

The Student Ambassador Online Mini Bootcamp, held on May 19, 2025, brought together young people, educators, and project leads to review and evaluate ongoing Student Ambassadors role in the Bootstrap project.  The Mini Bootcamp facilitated collaborative discussions, captured valuable young people’s perspectives, and generated actionable recommendations for enhancing program relevance, communication, and impact.

The Mini Bootcamp successfully gathered actionable insights from Student Ambassadors participants, validating the co-creation approach central to Bootstrap. The feedback revealed not only enthusiasm for the Youth Hub, Student Ambassadors Program, and Intervention App, but also specific ideas on how these tools could be more engaging, relatable, and impactful. Participants highlighted the need for consistent communication, relatable promotional strategies, and content that blends practical guidance with authentic storytelling.
