The detail

We all live in a society that has rapidly become digitalised. Yet, there is no significant research into the impact this has on the mental health of young people. The BootstrApp project recognises that internet usage can be harmful. It can also be positive, depending on how it is used.

It is a scientific study that aims :

1. Co-create an evidence based online app which will assess internet usage and promote the tools for positive internet usage.
2. Develop a policy toolkit to promote human digital rights accountability at local, national, and European level.

It will involve young people at several levels:

Peer Facilitators: 2 Peer Facilitators (18 – 25)  joining us from EYMH. These Peer Facilitators will be working for 2 days per month. They will focus on Communications, Facilitation, and App Design with Ella’s support. 

Young Experts Advisory Board : 10 Young Experts (18 – 25) are joining us from EYMH. They will attend monthly meetings. Their role is to offer their views across the study. This includes communications, app design, and workshops with young ambassadors. Working on the project approx 4 hours/month.

Young Ambassadors : Composed of 60 young people (11 – 16 years). They are recruited from schools across Europe. They will meet online and at week-long ‘Bootcamp’ residential. Together, they will co-design the creation of the BooTsTRapp App.

We are now recruiting for the Young Experts Advisory Board.

To join the project you must be:

• 18 – 25 years of age
• Have lived in Europe for at least 2 years before the age of 18
• Ha lived experience of mental health difficulties OR has a close friend or family member that has OR a engaged in online communities (and interested in mental health – e.g. gaming or social media)
• Be capable of committing to 3 – 6 hours / month over the next year
• Be capable of speaking English to a good level

We will be looking out for new members from across Europe.
